Best taco since a grandma cooked fish tacos from a hole in the wall fisherman's beach on Baja

Great ambience with large windows letting in lots of natural light. Beautiful bar setting. The hits are their creative tacos. We tried a sampling of 5 including smoked carnitas, steak, pork belly, cauliflower and battered fish. Tacos range from $5-6 but are larger than your typical street tacos. Great flavors especially if yo like spice as some have a bit of a kick. We didn't get a chance to try other items as this was a brief snack between lunch and dinner.

AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! and I don't leave reviews but Lola deserved this. Service was quick, I live up the street so it was less than a 2 minute walk. The inside of the business was beautiful and clean, staff quick and friendly. will definitely be back!

Pork belly taco was tasty, it was my wife's favorite taco here. The mushroom taco was also good, the sauces made it interesting. The fish taco was also interesting and flavorful. I'm really glad I had these unique tacos. I'm shocked at how easy it was to get a seat here, considering it's such a great and unique menu. The pazole was the special and it was probably the best pazole I've ever had outside of when abuelita makes it. I'd order it again. The churros were probably the best I've ever had. I'm from Miami, we have churros galore over there, but these were just better here. We would definitely order these again. Though I'm not sure if we'd order the tacos next time, they were great, but they feel like a special occasion taco.

I've heard about this place from a friend and also considering it was on the Michelin Guide for multiple years in a row it was a must try for me. Coming into the restaurant you can tell its not like your regular taco shop. The ambiance really fits gourmet tacos with the high ceiling, open kitchen, and rows of liquor at the bar. The service was fine. The cashier up front was not very engaging but was able to provide assistance when asked. The rest of the staff was there. Nothing bad but nothing spectacular. I went around lunch time and it was not busy. I only saw like one other party inside the restaurant. They had a lot of great options to choose from and the server recommended the Baja-Style fish taco so I had to get it. I also got the Special Birria taco and a Steak taco. The best one had to be the Baja-Style Fish Taco. The remoulade was delicious and the texture of the fish was great. The Special Birria was solid. Nothing special, just tasty birria. The Steak taco was interesting with the smokey pasilla salsa. It was enjoyable of a meal overall but a bit pricey and I still felt pretty hungry afterwards. Its a solid place that I'm happy that I tried but probably would only come back if other people wanted to go. Great tacos for sure but maybe I need to try other ones and the cocktails to understand why its been on the Michelin Guide for so long.

Michelin bib gourmand ( good quality, good value cooking). Casual Mexican yet very modern and upscale. Don't @ me, but these were the BEST tacos in all of San Diego. Maybe the best I've ever had. A moderately unique take on taco flavors resulting in something familiar yet breathtakingly new and wonderful. SERVICE: (5 out of 5) Forget the host/bartender's name, but she was phenomenal. Very sweet and sincerely pleasant service. ATMOSPHERE: (4.5 out of 5) warm, bright, open seating. We sat at the bar which was still very comfortable. PLENTY of seating inside and out. FOOD: (4.8 out of 5) would be a 5 out of 5 but they were out of the Squash-room taco and it was early lunch time!? We ended up getting the Rainbow Cauliflower taco and the Baja Style Fish for my vegetarian wife, and I got the steak taco, pork belly taco and again a Baja style fish for myself. I want to reiterate that the flavors are something atypical (unique) with the highlight for me being the Achiote pork belly mequite pineapple of the Al Pastor. But my wife was also raving about both if her tacos and if anyone is raving about cauliflower... it must be something else. Pro-tip: Order Lola's beans!! (Question to self: is this the true potential of beans??? What have I been eating this whole time then?) OMG so goooood! They also have a take on elote. Fun and delicious too, although not on the same level as the tacos or beans.

Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 I was excited to try the tacos that had been mentioned by the Michelin Guide, but they were a little disappointing. We ordered the steak, pork belly, and Baja fish tacos. While the pork belly melted in my mouth and the steak was juicy, the sauce on each was so salty and spicy that it completely overpowered all the other elements of the tacos. Which was a shame, because each taco was like a work of art and looked too good to eat. But...the churros. THE CHURROS (forgot to take a photo, sorry). Coming off the letdown of the tacos, the churros were an epiphany. My husband and I widened our eyes in shock, looked at each other, and then started fighting for the remaining churros. With a perfect delicate crunch on the outside and a warm soft doughiness on the inside, they may just be the best churros I have ever had in my life. They also generously rolled in cinnamon sugar that made me reminisce of childhood evenings at Disneyland. We would come back for churros alone. Next time, we'll order two batches.
